- How should I start playing with the Magic Words Playing Cards?
Then select, from the set of Magic Words Playing Cards some of the Magic Words contained in the book. You can also select some words that make a sentence.
Match the Magic Words from the cards to the book so that your child can see that the same words that are in their book are on the Playing Cards.
Begin playing some of the Magic Words card games - Magic Memory is always a favourite!
Example:
I like you.
I like to play.
I like to play with you.
- Do I have to learn the Golden Words first?
It is always best if the words a child is learning come form the current book they are reading or from a sentence that has been made up.
For example: I can look.
I is a Golden Word, can is a Green Word and look is a Violet Word.
Thus the importance of mixing up the colours.
However the 12 Golden Words make up one quarter of all words used in reading and writing
- How many words should my child know in the first year of school?
- What should I do with the Blank cards?
Example:
Sam has a bike.

Sam can ride his new bike.
Sam will ride his new bike.
- How can I help my child learn the Magic Words at home?
The easiest and most enjoyable way to learn the Magic Words is to play the Magic Words card games. Learning to read while having fun is Magic!
The Magic Words Playing Cards will:

- How long does it take to learn all of the 200 Magic Words?
Most children will know how to read all 200 words and then use the words accurately in their writing by the end of their third year of schooling.
