I recently attended a PD at ACER in Camberwell with Marcella. I've owned all the magic word items for several years, but had not been using them to their full potential until I attended the PD.
Needless to say, that in those 2 hours I was blown away with the scientific background as to how kids learn and the way that I should be using the magic words.

Thank you for inventing "Magic Words", we think they are the best thing since sliced bread. Our son got them at the beginning of Prep and finished Prep last year reading at Level 22. He is now using the Magic Words in Grade 1 to practice his spelling and sentence writing. He has an incredible love of books which is great, but the best thing of all was watching him with his father playing games with the words like The Memory Game and just having so much fun WHILE LEARNING!

Thank you for your help in the organisation of the Magic Words Workshop at Yarra Road Primary on Monday 15 February.
It was a fun session and hopefully lots of the ideas will filter through our school.

What a fantastic idea it was to create the 10 word certificate. I have started using the words with my four year old, and although he has received the Golden certificate and is well on the way with the Red Words, he also has a few Pink Words from the next 100 words and a few Blue and Green words in all over 30 words, but only one certificate. What an encouragement it will be to him when I give him a certificate for every 10 words he learns.Although he is my fifth child, and I did similar activities with the
other four children, the graded way the magic words has been set out has made teaching him words so much easier. I struggled with reading as a child as I had two migrant parents whose grasp on English was very limited, and I was
only truely exposed to English from age 4+ when I went to school. I have really enjoyed helping my child on his path to reading and am very grateful for the resource the Magic Words has given me. Benjamin has always loved
books and from a very young age asked to learn to read, and is now well on the way to acheiving his goal.Once Benjamin is finished with his cards I will save them for my
grandchildren and hope that they get as much joy from them as we have.Best wishes for continuing to develop such great resources for our children.

I attended your fabulous PD night in Mordialloc on Aug 4th.
Just to let you know I taught my little literacy group (all ESL) the B E C A U S E song!!!! And then we in turn taught the whole school during Literacy & Numeracy Week. We made cue cards with the letters... a bit of a production.... Anywhoo, today during a writing session which was a recount about an incursion we had had the day before, one gorgeous little lad produced 2 pages of writing ( an awesome feat in itself ) and in amongst this sea of mispelt words because appeared twice..... CORRECTLY SPELT. AS well the rest of the writings legibilty was so so, but because had been written so reverently and beautifully that I sung and danced around the room whilst the chn clapped and cheered at this lads success.When I asked him how he knew how to spell the word he said, " I sung the song in my mind." So thankyou so very much
By the way I keep telling anyone who I spy eating chocolate to eat as much as they like because it's a vegetable!!!! LOL

Exceptional afternoon tea aside, thank you for such an inspiring session last night!!Rightly so, so many of these pds are aimed at the classroom teacher. How wonderful to attend one that allows for a CRT to add to her bag of tricks in a way that does not just "fill in the void" but gives meaningful learning to that class to which one is allocated to at 8:30 - especially if you are just one of a succession of CRT that week!!Again, many thanks

Hi there, your resources have been a big help in my roll of learning support teacher at an inner brisbane school. 12 months ago there were 7 children over grade three reading below a level 5, most on one. Today they are all reading on a 8 or higher. FANTASTIC

Hi,
I purchased the Magic 100 words in Term 3 last year when my son was in Prep. He mastered all 100 words in less than a term and went on to master all 200 words before the end of the year! We were so impressed by this and cannot begin to express how fabulous this system really is! Our son has always loved books but is now reading beyond his year level and is even starting to write stories! Thank you M100W!!!
